I can't believe I'm actually writing this. I passed on May 12, 2003. The
initial result was Fail but I had a feeling about this attempt, so I
submitted a rescore request and I got the good news on June 17, 2003.
This was my fifth attempt, my fourth this year.
I would like to thank my friends and family, especially my parents and
my sister-in-law, Nabiha, for their constant prayers and encouragement.
But most of all I would like to thank Almighty God for giving me the
sanity and patience to endure the repeated failures and for retaining
confidence in myself.
I had passed my Qualification exam in November 2001 and attempted the
Lab for the first time in July 2002. It was a wasted attempt as I was in
Manufacturing and was learning this material through self-study only. A
month later I changed jobs to a position that exposed me a little more
to the technologies involved. But after two and a half years in
Manufacturing I was very anxious to get this obstacle out of the way as
soon as possible. Hence the brute force.
This group is an invaluable tool. None of the questions I ever posted on
it went unanswered and I am very grateful to the support given to me.
There is not much advice I can give that hasn't already been covered in
this group. I believe Experience is the most important pre-requisite out
of Self-Study, Training, and Experience. Passing the Lab requires a
killer instinct mentality. Moreover you should be able to relax the day
before the Lab. For extra inspiration I watched Rocky III on May 11. I
recommend any of the first four. Haven't watched Rocky V yet. I have a
feeling I will soon.
