RE: Remote Power

Charles,

I use APC Masterswitch AP9211s for remote power controllers.
I've had some issues with some of them, but usually a firmware upgrade
will help. I got a good price for them in bulk from
http://www.refurbups.com. Last time I checked they had them new and
refurbed.

As for the power requirements... it should be fine as long as
you don't exceed the aggregate amps and the max per port. The AP9211
only has an aggregate rating IIRC. As long as your total devices don't
exceed that, it's fine. Some of the RPC's I've seen have an aggregate
rating, and a rating per port. For example, 12A aggregate and 5A per
port, so you can have a total of up to 12 amps, but no more that 5 amps
per port. If in doubt, call the manufacturer and talk to their support
department before making any purchases.
