Remember CRC (or more precisely FCS on Ethernet) is a layer 2 check,
so it will only detect problems with frames that are being
transmitted.

This used to be the case, after a maximum number of retries. I assume
it's still true.

Is the DSU SNMP manageable? Do you have a path to it?

If the DSU interface has explicit clock pins, you should be able to
see that in the show controllers.
