If you want the bells and whistles, try ISS secure,
if you want the best and cheap too, try Snort..
Really you are looking for flexibility/granularity in
specifying detection criteria, as attack patterns
change as new vulnerabilities are unearthed. Both of
these are good, but I feel Snort is the most common..
