David,

Even so, it should still not work. The other side doesn't have anything configured as far as authentication.

You have a space at the end of cisco.

Subject: Eigrp route authentication

Hello, Group. I am seeing something unexpected with eigrp authentication. I have the authentication configured on only one end of a point to point serial link, but the routes from the unconfigured end still come through. See config below. Am I missing something? I have checked my answers against the lab book and they are exactly the same.

R1

key chain cisco
 key 1
  key-string test
!
interface Serial0
 ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.224
ip authentication mode eigrp 1 md5
ip authentication key-chain eigrp 1 cisco
 no fair-queue

R2

interface Serial0
 ip address 1.1.1.2 255.255.255.224
 no fair-queue

Thanks,
Danny
