I'm using cisco console cable with DB-9 and laptop Compaq armada E500 , with windows XP professional but again it is working with routers 2500 and 1600 , what is the difference to talk to these two models and suddenly stop talking to 2600 and 3660 series!!!!!!

Have you tried rebooting the laptop?
If you really want help give us more details: Which cables and adapters
used, OS on the laptop, terminal emulator program, etc.
Verify the physical layer - is the cable connection okay? You might try
connecting a modem cable to a modem and seeing if you can run 'at'
commands. That will verify your OS, the terminal emulator and the laptop
serial port.
