I had the opposite experience. I setup the virtual link, and although
the virtual link showed up, there were no routes being exchanged. Then
I configued the authentication on the virtual link to match the
authentication on area0 and things worked.

I remember I lab this before and even my area0 doing authentication
(clear text or MD5), my virtual link can still be up in FULL states. So
i wonder why we still need authentication on virtual link?

Hello,
If your Area 0 is using authentication, then your Virtual LInk must be
authenticated as well... just treated the Virtual Link as an extension
of Area 0.

I remember we had this discussion before where comes a conclution that
virtual link authentication has nothing to do with area0 authentication.

You have to authenticate. I do not believe you have to use the same

you have to have the virtul-link also use the same authentication so

But I tired to use the command withOUT authentication parameter, it also
connected with area 0 ,WHY?
