summary-address usage in BGP?

Hello,

I am familiar with summary-address with OSPF, and aggregate-address with
BGP. However, I noticed in 12.0(23)

R5(config)#router bgp 500
R5(config-router)#summary-address ?
   A.B.C.D IP summary address

I played with it a bit, but cannot get it do do anything visible... Anybody
used it? Is it just an IOS oversight?
