The main difference between the two ways is that using "
passive-interface loopback0" will
insert an entry for the loopback in the routing table via ISIS without
sending updates to a virtual interface - the loopback -. This is
basically useful in fine tuning where u would like to save some CPU
cycles. Other than this both ways acheive the same goal. Note that to
define a passive-interface under ISIS u have to have at least one ISIS
enabled interface on the router.

passive-interface loopback0 or router isis under interface loopback 0 ?
