OT: RE: New IOS Feature

My question is WHY, what is the logic behind the way the routes are
displayed? I can never find a pattern by looking at the route table for why
they are displayed in the order they are in, it certainly cannot be
arbitrary. Does anyone know?

I think most of us have accepted and have learned how to use the IOS route
table, and sh ip cef is nice, however it does not show how the route
originated (which protocol or next hop IP etc..). So for the time being we
are stuck with it.

It's cool isn't it. Still it's taken Cisco long enough to add this feature.
I don't know how many times I have had to come out of config mode to check
something!

There are only two things that I like about BayRS. One is viewing the
routing table in order and the other is being able to issue console commands
in bcc (config mode).

The first you can get around on IOS if you are using CEF by using show ip
cef instead of show ip route and now with 12.2T you can issue exec commands
within config mode.

Feature Overview
You can now issue EXEC-level Cisco IOS commands (such as show, clear,
and debug commands) from within any configuration mode (such as global
configuration mode) by issuing the do command followed by the desired
EXEC command.
