Richard,

IGMP is required for the client to send a join or leave message to the
router, so you must know how to configure IGMP. The Cisco Proprietary CGMP
is a neat feature that allows the router to notify the switch when a client
has left a multicast group and to stop delivering the multicasts to that
port; so while CGMP is not absolutely necessary, it is also easy to
configure and a candidate for the exam.

An alternative to CGMP is IGMP Snooping. The difficult part for configuring
IGMP Snooping is knowing how to turn the IP address into a MAC address;
otherwise it is easy. Since CGMP is available on the 3550, you probably
don't need to know how to configure IGMP Snooping; but if 6509's ever enter
the Lab, I'd be prepared for snooping.

HTH, Kym
