These are not comparable parameters. The interface is either designed
for single-mode (SM) or multi-mode (MM) fiber and the optics can be
short-range (SR), intermediate-range (IR), or long-range (LR). If you're
going over longer distances you would typically use SM fiber.

Hello ATM experts,

               Does anyone know what the difference is between an OC-3
SM and OC-3 LR? [ single-mode vs. long range ] I've got some Terawave
gear coming in to the network and they say it needs to plug into an OC-3
SM.

I was wondering if the OC-3 LR PAM would work. Thanks alot.
