RIP-1 behaviour

Hi group,

Would anyone point out good RIP-1 route advertisement reference on the web ?
I am not sure if the following behaviour is correct :

1) When an interface receives a route update via RIP-1, it will assume the
subnet mask to be the same as the interface if the router has a directly
connected major network same as the destination route.
2) When sending RIP-1 update about a route of the same major network as one
of its connected interface, it will discard that specific route if the
subnet mask is different from its interface.

Thanks,
alec
