First of all, you would have to post the diagram to see how ospf is
configured and interacting with the other protocols that were running. You
know that an asbr generates type 5 lsa's and it will advertise either a
destination external to the as or a default route. If you configure a stub
area on an abr, this will still advertise a default route via network
summary lsa. If you configure a totally stubby area it will elminate type 5
lsa, but will still advertise a default route. So in order to answer your
question you will need to look at the requirements of the areas that you
have setup and any routing protocols that are running that are redistributed
into the area. Finally you also have to look at your abr and where the
backbone is running. I hope I have helped, but it looks like we need more
info. on the diagram of setup.
