I have had problems with ports going into errdisable as well (6500's). The
problem seems to only happen to users who have PC's that are 4+ yrs old.
The ports seem to go into errdisable randomly - until the problem is fixed.
Any time I see the issue, I have the desktop team update the NIC drivers on
the PC. The problem always dissapears after that. In fact, I haven't
received a call in over 6 months and I have 8 fully populated 6500's with
the feature enabled A few years ago, there were problems with different
vendors supporting the auto negotiation standard.. I'm guessing that is why
it always seems to happen to PC's that have out-dated NIC drivers - at least
in my case.

I would rather fix the problem than disable the feature. There's obiously
something wrong if the port is shutting down due to errors.
