If you think logically, which should be easy for you programmers out there,
the number of IE's increase you get worried (like me) and then suffer a mental
0x2101 period if your not numbered (like me). Yes there are more people doing
this cert and more people sitting the lab daily and more IE being produced per
year. After taking this all into account, I think the way forward is not just
a Cisco skill set but a core.
Just say I get a numbered and look for a job. I have average knowledge of MS,
operating systems, few other apps. Nothing special, right? Imagine if you had
4-5 digits, MS certs, Oracle certs, whole collection of a variety of different
certs and most importantly...some good solid experience in all the mentioned.
Companies would be in-line trying to hire you, regardless of what the market
condition is or how saturated a cert is.
In my simple mind, I think it all comes down the person themselves. Pin your
hopes on Cisco alone and I think you will suffer with or without your
knowledge. Get an irresistible skill set and your career is pretty much on
steroids for the duration.
The topic of money would never appear because your already on a very good
number and going up by atleast 20% per year, how? You don't stop learning,
don't think ',I learn new things everyday at work though'...there lies the
problem. Get a cert some exp and the job will do the rest rest. Wrong, what if
I got Juniper, Wireless things, go for more Cisco but adding more of something
different but not the same.
I know some people have families and each person's situation is different but
think for a second.
I myself have questioned the reason why and what would I gain from these
digits, and after a few seconds (sorry a fish can only retain things for a few
seconds) I always get the same answer, to survive the way I want to.
I am really going to get this cert sit on my backside and look at what I have
achieved, forget that, I need peace of mind, confidence in myself and the
company/ies I work have confidence of me. Totally forgot (fish)...the money is
just a bonus.
You could always think your stuck in the matrix and that's why you keep seeing
the something over and over gain...damn those green letters.
