Jim,
IMHO, current professional-quality scenarios are the single most important
thing you need to prepare for the CCIE Lab. Many of the rental racks are
set up to support IPExpert.net, ccbootcamp.com, and hellocomputers.com
scenarios. You do not have to own ATM, 3550, and voice modules (though 3550
and voice are within reach of many of us, and important enough to consider
making the investment).
I believe scenarios from any of these three (and probably some others) are
high quality. I used IPExpert.net for R&S and found them very challenging,
no re-cabling between scenarios, and not too many errors in the solutions.
$500 is a low investment.
Even if you work with CCIEs who are willing to develop some challenging
scenarios for you, they aren't likely professional trainers and
scenario-devleopers. They'll focus on what they needed in their day, not
what is being introduced today. Of course, accept these home-made scenarios
from your expert friends, but still buy professional scenarios.
HTH, Kym
