Hi All,
I have two question regarding Spanning-Tree and 802.1Q trunking:
1. How to run CST (a single, Common Spanning Tree) across a switched
layer 2 network that is composed of cat 6509, 2950 and 3550?
2. I am also confused by the cisco white papers on ST technologies,
I just wonder if someone can clarify the relationship between spanning
technologies and trunking protocols:
Spanning-Tree: IEEE802.1D (CST), IEEE802.1s (MST) 802.1w (RSTP),
Cisco's PVST+, Trunking: ISL and IEEE802.1Q.
In fact, I am working on a big layer-2 switched network that is
composed of catalyst 6509, 2950(802.1Q only, but it does run PVST+!!)
and 3500. I had lot of problems to stabilize it. So, I am going to
implement a CST firstly across all catalyst switches.
Thank you for your help in advance. I hope I will not meet this
problem in my CCIE lab.
Regards,
Xun
