RE: 2900xl/3500xl reboot when access via console port

I've had this happen to me on a 6509. Dell laptop, Win2k. Since then, I
NEVER have my console cable plugged into a switch while my laptop is
booting. Just to be on the safe side.

Yes. I can't say 100% what causes it though. We use Dell laptops running
Win2K, and it seems that if you connect to the console port before/while
Win2K is booting it causes the 2900XL to reboot. My group of co-workers
seems to think it something in how Win2K is initializing the serial port.
Which OS are you using on the PC to console into your 2900s? The only
solution I have found to avoid this, is to boot the laptop, login, run our
terminal application (SecureCRT), then and only then connect the console
cable. By doing things in that order, it avoids rebooting the switch.

Anyone have an issue with a 2900xl or 3500xl switch rebooting on them when
accessing it via the console port. Any solutions?

Thank you.
