Hi Friends,

I am really confused with vlan 1 & layer 2 etherchannel. First vlan 1 if
in the lab they have asked to allow only vlans 5,6,7 on the trunk
then do i need to remove vlan 1 also from the trunk. I know vlan 1 is
the management vlan and as per cisco doc. you cannot remove vlan
1,1002-1005. I am currently running this image :c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-12c.ea1
on my Cat 3550. With this image i can remove vlan 1,1002-1005 and
even i can prune vlan 1002-1005. So i am really confused where in
the real lab i have to remove vlan 1 if they ask only allow vlans 5,6 & 7.

And the second question is if I remove vlan 1 from the trunk I
cannot form layer 2 etherchannel. Even if i make some other vlan
as native vlan even then I was not able to form layer 2 etherchannel.
But if I allow vlan 1 back on the trunk then I was able to form the
layer 2 etherchannel. So just want to confirm with you guys whether
vlan 1 is a must on the trunks to form layer 2 etherchannel.

Looking forward for your help & advice ?

Thanks
.
