Hello Martin,
I have read this topic in Solie and although it is recommended to configure the static RP on the RP itself it is not mandatory....I always do to standardise the config though.

Subject: multicasting , static RP should also in RP itself ?
I saw lots of questions ask you to configure r1 as the RP without any config in r1 ,
the answers is configure static RP on other rouers .
but in cisco DOC , you must configure static RP in RP itself , any idea ?
Thanks !
The RP address is used by first-hop routers to send PIM register messages on behalf of a host sending a packet to the group. The RP address is also used by last-hop routers to send PIM Join and Prune messages to the RP to inform it about group membership. You must configure the RP address on all routers (including the RP router). ------------<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
