Just type atm0 on the modem to shut off the speaker.

Here is a modemcap file that does it and also disables auto anwser so
you can see the phone ringing.

modemcap entry bradshaw:AA=ats=0:NEC=ate1:MSC=atm0:TPL=default

line aux 0
 modem autoconfigure type bradshaw

the problem is, when the phone is plugged in, the phone makes a constant
high-pitch noise and it means I have to turn the ringer off on the
phone. The cards work perfectly and I can do all my voip stuff and call
and thing, its just that the damn noise it makes is really irritating.
