Joe,
I assume you're talking about the COS field in trunks. True, it's not
that necessary most of the time, but when a link does get totally congested
(say a 1 GB trunk), COS will allow a couple hundred simultaneous VoIP calls
over without a hitch, at the expense of some re-transmissions for other
protocols. If you're designing a networks for heavy voice or real-time
video use, it's a real good idea to plan for it.
