A serious question to you, as I really am interested in how people
learn. Is your concern with Keagy's book that it is simply too
wordy, or something else? We might be able to help better if we knew
specific areas that seemed to be a problem in learning, and that
Keagy didn't cover well.
For myself, I usually look for references that are more comprehensive
and less concise. Extracting the key material is one of the ways
that I learn best.
Not too long ago, I was writing a tutorial on QoS, mostly but not
completely for QoS. My major sources were CCO, RFCs/I-Ds, and
non-Cisco specific QoS material (including research papers on QoS
mechanisms). The process of extracting Cisco-specific things both
helped me learn, and helped me produce a product.
