Re: how to make ospf demand-circuit calm?

To add to this,

When I was in the NMC-1 class, I discovered a bug in the paticular version
of
12.1 IOS they were running. (can't remember which one). If I manually set
the OSPF router ID's on the routers connecting to each other over the Demand
Circuit, for some reason the routers would still send out a multicast packet
every so often over the demand link and cause it to come up. The instructor
was aware of this and told me how to fix it.

If I changed from the manually set router ID's to let OSPF use the defaults
that it chooses, which are usually the loopbacks that I configured, this
would go away. I had never seen this before, or after this and I am running
"js56i-l.121-17" on all of my routers in my home rack.
