Packets being dropped because of no route maybe?

I'm not sure I'm clear on your scenario, but it sounds like you're
comparing a default route to your provider versus BGP with your provider.
If this is the case, you may be missing routes, which would cause packet
drops. Try having your provider send you a default route.
