Congrats! I am really amazed at how many numbers are being handed out
lately.

Subject: I passed on Monday
A quick thank you to the whole list. On Monday I became CCIE #10880. It was
my first attempt. Although I have only been subscribed here since late
November, several threads led me to particular lab configs or research that
was helpful in my study.
In particular one suggestion I heard about here to use the scratch paper to
keep track of sections completed, sections unsure, and sections skipped,
with points for each. This was useful to me. Another list member gave me
great time management tips: how far to be at 11:30 for the lunch break, be
finished with one pass through by 2:30, use the last 1/2 hour to recheck all
connectivity from all points. This was also useful to me. Also from this
list, I was not ashamed to ask the proctor for clarification and did so at
least 6-7 times during the day.
I skipped over several sections initially to hit the items I felt completely
comfortable with (no need for documentation.) Then I went through and hit
the sections that I knew, but needed a little documentation to complete. But
in those cases I knew exactly which config guide/command reference manual
was needed and where to look. By that time it was about 2:15pm. There were
only two sections that my first time through made me shake my head and
mutter "I didn't even know you could do that..." But a little research got
me going and by 3:00 (a little behind schedule but not too bad) I had an
answer to every section. I made another full pass through the exam and found
a one bigger thing (a split horizon issue) and several clean-up things to
fix. Then I had about 1/2 hour to look over every route table, ping from
many points, etc.
I am happy to have it done. If you are in the middle of it -- keep going! If
I can do it then I'm sure you can too! Good luck to all and Merry
Christmas/Happy Holidays --
