Subject: EBGP Multihop - How many hops?
So what is best practice? What I typically do for my EBGP multihop
customers is set the ttl to 10 if its only 3 or 4 hops; that away if the
primary link dies they don't get black-holed if the redundant route
takes them 5 or 6 hops away from the peer.
In your opinion how should I set this up in the "real world" vs the lab?
If in the lab I am asked to setup multihop, but they don't tell me how
many hops to set the ttl should I set it to 255 or should I set it to
just a little over the NEEDED ttl.
Thank You,
Scott
