A great tool is mcast.exe because you don't need to set up the actual
service on the servers. You just kick off mcast.exe on two PCs (a source
and a receiver). Even if you don't have a PC receiver, you can still
source the stream from one PC and then do a hard join at the destination
router interface to verify that your stream in transversing the network
to your hard join successfully.
mcast.exe is found on the Windows 2000 resource kit.
