A friend of mine got what the phone company claimed to be a "lightning fast" DSL connection.He was not very impressed & constantly complained.

I went over to his house to take a look at it & everything seemed fine, other than the fact that it was slow & was installed with factory defaults & no security of any kind.

A little later I fired up my laptop & booted up on Linux running airsnort.

There were 4 other unauthorized connections to his AP.

I changed his SSID, added WEP keys & filtered all MACs but his.

He now enjoys his DSL connection much more, since it is only him enjoying it.

Even though WEP & MAC filtering is pretty much a joke to anyone that know what they are doing it can at least keep out the people that don't.
