OT: Copy ios from ftp.cisco.com directly to flash?

Sorry for the OT, but I searched through the archives and could not find an
answer for this.
Has anyone successfully downloaded IOS from ftp.cisco.com directly to flash
from the router using their CCO login?

I've been able to succesfully copy a file from my home/default directory of
ftp.cisco.com using "copy ftp flash" but I have not been able to pull an
actual ios file from any subdirectory on ftp.cisco.com therefore I'm
guessing it either cannot be done for some reason or I am doing something
wrong in specifying my path but if anyone has a working example they could
share I would appreciate it.

P.S. Please don't bother asking me to illegally obtain IOS software for you
as I'm weary that this will prompt some requests
