It is my turn. I became the CCIE #10746 at Sao Paulo
this Monday. I was the only person to take the lab
this day. The proctor told me there very few candidate
scheduled for November.
The lab was tough but fair. There was several topics I
didn't know but I was able to find these in the CD. I
finished the IGP part just before lunch and the BGP
1.5 hours after it. I was in the Mexico CPower
sessionsion wKateathe from Cisco told us that we had
to be able to complete the IGP before lunch in order
to have enough time. I found this to be true.
My advise ( very similar to what other have said
before):
1) Know the CD and be able to find new issues very
fast. Due to the change in the lab you are going to
use it.
2) You need both UNDERSTAND and PRACTICE the
technologies. I have notice that usually people adopt
an unbalanced preparation mechanism. You need to know
WHAT are you doing and HOW are you going to do and DO
it FAST.
3) READ the exam TWICE before start, is well spend
time.]
My story: I began to study CISCO on July 2000 because
Cisco invited me to a CCIE Bootcamp. I realize how few
I know about the subject but I passed the CWritteniten
and began to study for CCNA, CCNP and the same time of
preparing for the labs. I passed CCNA very fast and
BCSN, BSMSN and BCRAN before my first try in November
2001. I fail mainly because a failure in take care of
the small detail. After that I focussed in my personal
life ( I married in May this year ) and , with my wife
support, I continued the process. Passed the CIT exam,
I took two week of vacation just to prepare for the
lab using the bradshawlabs racks ( good ones ).
I read almost the entire Cisco press Catalog. I
recommend the Doyle I,II and Solie.
I use the Ipexpert Labs. There are good but
nimprovementsents in the answer there are some errors
there.
I would likethanksansk to this list (thanks Paul) , I
was a passive readers but the list was an essential
part ofpreparationtiThanksansk to usualsual
participant ( Brian Gahan, Dennis, PetervanOne).
Thanks to Jeff Kessemeyer for the rsupportport and to
my wife for all this support.
I am going to return to my life.
Good luck everyone !
