This way to this feature is highly implementation-dependent. Most decent
NIC's would allow this in the "advanced" driver settings (or a setup disk
utility for some really old ones), but your mileage may vary. What
constitutes decent? I don't know. My Xircom/Intel laptop PC-cards and every
Intel, HP and 3COM NIC I've ever run across (including some really ancient
ones) allowed it, but a three year old bare-bones Kingston NIC that came
with a DSL self-serve kit doesn't.
An Intel PRO100 (and others of its ilk) would certainly allow you to change
its MAC address. There are many others.
