Hunt,
"dialer remote-name YYY" is who you wish to authenticate and must have a
"username YYY password ZZZ" locally.
"ppp chap hostname XXX" is who your router is claiming to be, which the
remote router checks against "username XXX password ZZZ"; generally only
used if several of your routers must claim to be the same hostname (remote
router then only needs one "username XXX password ZZZ"). If you leave this
out, chap defaults to your router's actual hostname.
"ppp chap password ZZZ" is what your router sends in response to a
challenge. Use "ppp chap password ZZZ" if the remote router does not have a
"username XXX password ZZZ" for your router. Generally not used because
remote router authenticates against it's "username XXX password ZZZ" for
your router.
