  Something else interesting on the topic,

 If you running config gets too big you can compress that as well,

 Look at the size in bytes of your running config.

service compress config,

 and this will compress the running config, then check the amount of memory
being used now and you will
see if has been significantly reduced..

I have head of this being once, when the running config on a router had
grown so bit, there was no a memory shortage for it,to be stored.
