Karl,
What do you mean you have nothing to practice? Have you read over all
the 3550 documentation and practiced all the features on the 3550? Until
you have I wouldn't say you have nothing to practice. If you read over
and practice all the 3550 features from CCO then you don't need the
practice labs anyways.

The best approach to passing the CCIE lab is to read over the
documentation relating to the topics being tested (config guides,
command references and tech tips). Then practice every feature, command
and tech tip that you think Cisco could throw at you. Best of all it's
free and lots of people still pass the lab using this technique.

When I was preparing for my first CCIE in 1996 and the last one here in
2002 I did it the same way. I read over the configuration guides and
command references on CCO. I practiced pretty much every feature and
command I could dig up. I practiced some features more than others of
course. I then would go and find any tech tips or TAC write-ups and
practice them. I would also take some of the tech tips and features and
put my own twist on them.

When I was done preparing for the CCIE Security lab I had a 4" binder
full of material I printed out from CCO along with printouts of
configurations I had practiced. To this day I still have my original
CCIE binder and ISP Dial binder.

Good luck on your lab.

Brian Dennis, CCIE #2210 (R&S/ISP Dial/Security)

Subject: Practice Labs

I have been somewhat frustrated trying to obtain practice labs for the
new
exam. I am already a subscriber to NLIs labs, so I am reluctant to
spend
money on another set. NLI has been extremely non-committal when asked
when
they will have their new version available. My problem is that I am
scheduled to take the exam in a few weeks, and I have rental time
scheduled
between now and then with nothing to practice. I am also unemployed and
need to be very careful how I spend my money right now.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I could get my hands on a practice
lab
to get me by until the NLI labs are available? I am a firm believer in
protecting intellectual property rights, so I don't want to violate
copyrights. I have written a practice lab of my own built around two
3550s
that I would be willing to trade with someone who has done the same.
Please
let me know. I can be reached at karl@brusen.com.
