you'll need gdp when you want the router to learn its gateway from
irdp/rip/eigrp etc.. but when you
emulate rotuer as a host.. irdp alone should do the trick..look for
default-gateway entry when you hear irdp active on the local segment.. also
as its a layer 3 stuff highest preference wins election.
