This setup will work as long as the area 0 is not one router. If you
have two ABRs; one connecting area 1 on the left to area 0 and the other
connecting area 0 and area 1 on the right. The area number is not
carried with the route throughout the OSPF domain. Area numbers are used
between the two neighboring routers.

I know that Area 0 cannot be discontiguous. But can other area that
attached to area 0 be discontiguous, that is, partitioned?

Example:

     Area 1 ----- Area 0 -------- Area 1
