Long ago, I had the same problem and the only way around was to put clocking
on the other side. I know that could be a problem, especially, if you
already have a cable that has DCE on the AGS end:-(

BTW, I switched the jumper and that did not work for me either.

Switching the cable worked for my AGS+.
