Subject: RE: 3550 BVI/router on a stick problem any solutions
Chris,
I will assume that you already did the Following:
1. You are not assigning an IP address on both
subinterfaces that are in the same subnet. You assign
a bridge number to both.
2. You created a BVI interfaces and you assign the IP
(ex. 172.16.10.1/24) that is in the same subnet as the
management interface on the switch.
3. You using the following commands in the global
mode:
bridge 1 protocol ieee
bridge 1 route ip <------ do not forget this
4. You configured on switch the trunk port:
interface FastEthernet0/7
switchport trunk encapsulation isl
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,5,6,1002-1005
switchport mode trunk
no ip address
!
interface Vlan5
ip address 172.16.10.2 255.255.255.0
!
interface FastEthernet0/3
switchport access vlan 6
switchport mode access
no ip address
If you already have all of the above done then we can
move on from there. Since it is working on the 2900
switches then you probably done something wrong on the
3550.
Let us know
