I passed (R/S) on the 17th of October in Brussels. What a relief!

I'd like to thank my wife Lorraine for being so patient with me for such a
long time. I can't remember the last time we went out together on the
weekend (with the exception of last weekend of course).

It was my second lab attempt and it took me 9 months in total. I passed the
written exam in February this year and I took my first lab attempt back in
July.

Preparation methods:
Books: Doyle I & II, Solie, Hutnik & Saterlee (I read these from cover
to cover)
Ref Books: IP QOS (Vegesna), Cisco VoFR, ATM and IP (McQuerry, McGrew & Foy)

Bootcamp: Kinetic (Martin Shortland) in the UK. This was well worth the time
and money.
Labs: IPeXpert, FatKid.
Lab time: approx 250 hours

Some advice:
1. As others have already mentioned, practice timed lab scenarios and make
sure that you can get all IGPs & BGP up in approx 3.5 hours (for a standard
8 hour lab scenario).
2. The bootcamp was the main difference between my first and second
attempts. I was able to discover my weak points, narrow down my study focus
and also discover new methods of approach from the instructor and other
colleagues.
3. Spend a considerable amount of time going through the CD. I spent almost
a week doing this before the exam. I find the command references and the
master index to be the greatest help.
4. Last but not least, this list helped me a great deal. I was more of a
lurker although I participated occasionally. In the beginning I used to skim
through all the messages that came in. Later, I started being more
selective.

I wish you all the best of luck!

Kurt.
