Subject: TCPIP port numbers
Hello All,
I have a simple question that I should know. When a TCPIP client
application (say telnet) try to access a server (say a telnet server) it
uses port number 23 as a destination port number in its IP packet. My
question is what is the source port number of this IP packet? Is it
randomly generated or there is a rule for generating this source port
number? Any link or a CCO document is appreciated.
Sam
