Not everyone is the same. Some are lulled into being confident after mastering YXZ practice exams w/o really knowing the topic. Others lack field experience. Others are just smarter than most folks. And finally some went to bootcamps and made the best of it to augment their already established knowledge.

This is what concerns me. Cisco took Decnet off the lab a while ago and there is still a lot of Decnet (Ph IV and V). There's still a lot of TR, DLSw, XOT etc. Not to mention millions and millions of PCs using IPX for their comms. It may not be useful to study it for the lab (since it's no longer being covered) but knowledge in these topics will not go to waste.
