Make sure that after "write erase" and "reload" you do not have any other
routers connected to your router via point-to-point links or Frame Relay.
Otherwise your router might get the IP address automatically via SLARP
(which you should see by typing "show ip int brief" and having SLARP in the
"Method" column).
