I figured this was important enough to blast it out to this list. My apologies to our international readers.

In case you guys didn't know about this. Like the instruction below says, don't bother with "option #1" even though it refers to this email. I just opted out, so it legit.

Subject: Credit Update

Just wanted to let you know who hasn't already heard, the four major credit bureaus in the US will be allowed, starting July 1, to release your credit info, mailing addresses, phone numbers, etc., to anyone who requests it. (currently you have to sign to release this info, no more!)

If you would like to "opt out" of this release of your info call
1-888-567-8688. It takes about 2 minutes.

Once the message starts you'll want option #2 (even though option #1
refers to this email, this is important pick option 2)then pick option #3
(listen closely, the first option is only for a two year period) make sure
you wait for until they prompt for option #3, which "opts" you out
       forever.

The credit bureaus are counting on people not knowing about this new law and further counting on you not to exercise the only loophole in law to favor consumers.
