David,

You need to config a Dlsw peer with the router at 125.55.7.1 first, before you could define a backup dlsw peer with 125.55.3.1.
Being pingable to 125.55.7.1 alone is not adequate.

HTH

Has anyone bumped into this before? I don't see anything on CCO search that
references it.

r2(config)#dlsw remote-peer 0 fst 125.55.3.1 backup 125.55.7.1 linger 5
%Primary peer by ip address 125.55.7.1 does not exist

Just an FYI, 125.55.7.1 does exist and is pingable via point to point frame
relay.

Kym,

I disagree.
I used both Satterlee's books, the hard copy (1st edition) and the soft
copy (2nd edition) for preparing my CCIE. They are a very good starter
for the early stage of study. Since I was pursuiting CCIE totally on my
own, I could not afford going to any bootcamp training, nor any of those
expensive lab scenarios; moreover, I am an novice in networking, and
have never worked on Cisco routers before. Besides these two books, what
really helped me finally get my CCIE is the ultimate resourses that most
of CCIE pursuers overlook, the Doc CD!
I have read through the entire CD for many times, including the
Configuration Guides and Command Refereneces. You will find this reading
very valuable and worth the time you spend, although this does take
quite some time to do.
So, my advice to people studying for their CCIE's, take whatever it
takes to study the Doc CD, as thoroughly and repetitively as you can. It
is extremely helpful for those people like myself that are studying CCIE
in their own spare time and out their own pocket. The Doc CD is the
best, yet free resource for CCIE, and the only one you'll have on your
big lab day.
