I'm not sure if you're likely to find that kind of specific information,
but sometimes the answers you seek can be found by simply identifying the
current/existing requirements, functionality, skill if the admins/engineers,
and finally the product make up of the network. Questions like ...

1. What equipments is currently in use?
2. What's the level of skill among the engineers/techs providing support?
3. What are the service requirements for the device?
4. Finally, What is the reason for replacing the current/existing device?

There is no generic Flash cards for the PIX.. It's all cisco. Yes, there
is non-cisco (cisco approved) RAM for routers. The most important thing is
knowing what kind of memory you need. This can be done by testing the
memory. Of course it would n't be wise to use non cisco memory in devices
on a production network. Unless you're looking for a new job..:-)
