If you have MD5 authetication on R1, you should only configure
on R2 the following:

!
router ospf <proc-id>
 area 0 autentication message-digest
!

No need to configure authetication for the virtual-link AS LONG AS THE TRANSIT
AREA - area 1 - is not using any authetication .
