I've implemented the same key chain and it worked.

>> ip authentication mode eigrp 10 md5
>> ip authentication key-chain 10 cisco-chain

Just a thought - are you sure you didn't add an extra space
after the name of the key chain in the interface config. mode?

>> key chain cisco-chain
