take one single method to do this.....

how about if we say something like this ..
it all depends on what platform you are doing this and the version of IOs.And
how many swicthes or switch connections are connected to the switch you want to
do this on

so remember all that these guru's have said ...

.nick's implementation might not be available on certain CAT IOS levels
chucks method is dependant on platform and IOS
john i do not like shutting spanning tree
My method is setting the priority to the highest

use it accordingly

but john second option has the universal method it works on all platform
SHUT THE SWITCH OFF : )......this will actually guarantee that that switch will
never become ROOT
